Dedicated to the memory of Regine Betson

This site is a tribute to Regine Betson, born on August 26, 1970 in Loerrach, Germany. Beloved wife of Daniel, and mother to Emily and Samuel.

Regine put her heart and soul into everything that she did. She worked hard at her career, and was well respected. She loved her family and was so proud of her children.

Regine was first diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2011. After an initial course of chemotherapy and an operation in December 2012, she had no evidence of disease. However in May 2012, a further lymph node was discovered which was removed. We then started to get on with our lives until the cancer returned in the lymph nodes in her chest in November 2013. She underwent a major operation to remove them and more chemo followed. She had another subsequent operation to remove further nodes. In 2015 Regine was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. She underwent further courses of different chemotherapy to keep it at bay, however in May 2017 it had spread to her lungs and her ovaries.

We had a wonderful summer holiday while Regine was still feeling fit, and attended a wedding in Italy. Regine's condition then deteriorated in the latter months of 2017, with breathing becoming increasingly difficult. However she was determined to see Christmas, which she did. She was admitted to Woking Hospice on February 7th 2018, and died peacefully in her sleep on February 10th 2018.

Regine was a larger than life character who simply loved people. She had many friends locally, in Germany and also through online communities. She gained strength from the experiences of others who have been through the same things. She also gave back, helping others where she could.

Regine was much loved by those that knew her. She had a wonderful spirit, a beautiful smile, and a determination to succeed in everything that she did. She is greatly missed by all of her family, her friends, and by her online community.

This site is dedicated to her memory, with an opportunity to contribute towards Regine's two chosen charities. Woking Hospice, providing community care for people with life limiting illnesses in the Woking area, and Secondary1st, putting secondary breast cancer first.
